Sculpture by Ailene Fields

Highly acclaimed sculptor, Ailene Fields, will be demonstrating and teaching the fine art of hand stone working and finishing.
Basics of stone carving - initial roughing out, developing a form, final finishing and polishing are presented during the course. There is a choice of softer stone or marble. Hand tools, sharpening and maintenance are all covered. Participants should end the course with the basic knowledge necessary to work on their own. Instruction is individually oriented so that all level of experience will benefit from this great opportunity to make sure "you got it all."
Students will choose the subject matter of their sculpture and with instruction from Ms. Fields will learn the basics to the specifics of stone carving. Studio time during store hours is included in the class fee, along with one 3 hour evening class a week with the instructor. Also included are use of a stone modeling table and storage space. Materials and tools are not included in the class fee. All levels of skill are more than welcome. Please call for more details.
