THE TAO OF SCULPTING:
A Dialogue with Stone

The “Tao”, meaning “Way” or “Path”, is an ancient Chinese philosophy about finding your own way and is a powerful metaphor for the creative process of allowing a form to emerge, rather than forcing the stone to be “something”. Through a guided meditation you will choose a stone that “speaks to you” and gradually enter into a state of becoming “one with” it. By listening to yourself and to the stone, you will enter into the mystery and excitement of the unknown and allow a form to emerge. Through sculpting with no “result” or “destination” in mind you will learn to stay in the moment, practicing spontaneous expression and trusting your natural instincts, or your “way”. Using small alabaster stones, we will enter into a dialogue with the stone and allow it to guide us. |
| In this workshop, you will learn to surrender to the stone and to the creative process, create small abstract sculptures and discover the joy of creativity and the power of authentic self expression. No sculpting or artistic experience needed. Instructor: Judy de Zanger |
