15th Annual Limestone Symposium - Summer 2011 dates TBA

Come be challenged by the beauty and versatility of Indiana Limestone at the only sculpture intensive of its type anywhere!
The Limestone Symposium offers the unique opportunity to carve native Salem limestone outdoors at the historic Bybee Stone Mill in Ellettsville, Indiana. Taught by Bloomington’s own master sculptor Amy Brier, the Symposium has four one-week sessions; each can be taken individually. Both hand and pneumatic tools are used. You can register now. Session I & II - Workshops will focus on specialized shills, such as lettering, design, splitting blocks and other techniques. Both sessions feature a similar curriculum with different guest instructors.
Work on Your Own Session - Provides unstructured carving tim with forklift availability, air and electricity.

Tools

Bring your own tools. After registering, a packet will be sent to you with detailed information and a list of tools needed. The Compleat Sculptor will be on site with a full selection of tools for sale.

Location

The Limestone Symposium is held in Ellettsville, Indiana at the Bybee Stone Company, approximately five miles west of Bloomington. Slide shows will be held at the John Waldron Arts Center, a renovated limestone structure in downtown Bloomington.
