- In this article, the piece we are applying the patina to is a Hydrocal cast made from a silicone mold. This image is what the cast looks like after it was de-molded and let dry.
- The first step is to properly seal the object to be coated (especially if it is made of a porous material). We used a water-based sealant, but solvent-based sealants are also available. This prevents the metal coating from being absorbed into the piece thereby maximizing the coverage of the metal coating.
